Keeping Your Feet Happy!

April is National Foot Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about foot health’s importance and encourage people to take care of their feet. It is an excellent opportunity to learn more about foot health, how to prevent foot problems, and how to address existing conditions. So, let’s take some time this month to focus on our feet and keep them healthy and happy!

Dr. Triantafilos Iakovidis, the newest podiatry specialist at Bond Clinic, sat down with us to discuss the importance of having healthy feet. “Your feet drive the entire movement process for how we get from one point to another,” says Dr. Iakovidis. “If you experience any type of problem with the feet, it’s important to seek medical help.”

Here are some additional tips for keeping your feet healthy, according to Dr. Iakovidis:

  1. Wash your feet daily with soap and water. Make sure to dry them thoroughly, especially between the toes.
  2. Keep your toenails trimmed straight across and not too short. This helps prevent ingrown toenails.
  3. Wear comfortable and properly fitted shoes. Avoid shoes that are too tight or loose, as both can cause foot problems.
  4. Alternate your shoes daily to allow them to air out and prevent moisture buildup.
  5. Use foot powder to help keep your feet dry.
  6. Stretch your feet and toes regularly to help prevent stiffness and improve circulation.
  7. Avoid walking barefoot in public places to reduce the risk of fungal infections.
  8. If you have diabetes or other medical conditions, it’s essential to have regular foot exams to catch any problems early.

Remember, caring for your feet is vital to overall health and wellness. Bond Clinic has two physicians available if you need a podiatrist’s services. Dr. Christopher Englert & Dr. Triantafilos Iakovidis are both accepting new patients. Please call 863-293-1191 or visit their profiles for more information about our services.
