Anticoagulation Clinic

The Anticoagulation Clinic (also known as Coumadin Clinic) is designed to help patients manage and maintain therapeutic clotting times to keep them safe. The patients enrolled in the Anticoagulation Clinic are taking either Coumadin, Warfarin Sodium, or Jantoven. Fewer incidences and hospital visits have resulted from the patients managed in our Anticoagulation Clinic. The licensed and registered nursing team that staffs this clinic manages over 1,300 patients.

The licensed nurses in the Anticoagulation Clinic have been trained using established protocols approved by Bond Clinic physicians. Each patient receives individual teaching on the first visit to the Anticoagulation Clinic, which lasts approximately one hour. Diet, safety, and compliance play significant roles with the patients. Our nurses strive to educate and reinforce compliance with our patients on each visit.

Testing is done via the finger stick method. The patients know the results right away—there is no waiting. Our nurses instruct the patients of any changes in the Coumadin dosages with written instructions. Then, our medical receptionist schedules the return visit. This method is fast and personalized with individual, one-on-one patient care.
