Bond Clinic Diabetes Health Fair – Saturday, November 6

Every year, millions of people come together during November to bring attention to the medical condition of diabetes. This month highlights ongoing awareness campaigns to educate people on the effects of diabetes and for those living with the disease to share their stories.

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. It is also commonly classified into three different types: type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes means your body does not make insulin; type 2 diabetes means the body does not make or use insulin well, and gestational diabetes develops in some women when they are pregnant.

According to a recent report from the Center For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 34.2 million Americans live with diabetes. That’s just over 1 in 10 people with diabetes. The report also found that another 88 million American adults – approximately 1 in 3 – have prediabetes. This data shows that additional information and education on diabetes could be helpful. That’s where the medical team and professionals at Bond Clinic come in.
